Conferences
The GWA-DC was known for its involvement with other women's events in the area including the summer Sisterfire musical extravaganzas and the Passages conferences. In 1985, GWA-DC presented its own first conference.

The GWA-DC hosted their first conference on April 27, 1986 at the Dupont Plaza Hotel. Maureen Bunyan, a newscaster, was the keynote speaker. Workshop topics focused on professional, social, and personal issues ranging from choosing the right computer to myths surrounding women's sexuality.
