Abstract
Cara Gormally interviewed Alvin Mayes on June 29, 2022, via zoom. Topics discussed included gay life in the DC metro area from the late 1970s onwards, including experiences at bars and clubs, particularly focusing on segregation of spaces in terms of gender and race; AIDS in the DC metro area; Lesbian and Gay Chorus; his work at the University of Maryland as a dance professor; and growing up in Detroit.
