Abstract
John grew up in Rockville, Maryland, and has spent almost his entire life in the DC area. He moved into Capitol Hill in the mid 80s and lived there for several years in a group home with other gay men. From there, he met his partner, who he has lived with in several homes in Capitol Hill since. John and his partner adopted their son, Joe, from Vietnam, and John described the adoption process and the challenges they faced. John also volunteered at the Whitman-Walker clinic as a peer counselor for a gay men’s group for several years. John also volunteers at his church, and talked about his relationship with the church.
