Oral history interview with Jim Marks

Abstract

Jim Marks worked as an English professor at the University of Georgia before moving to Washington, DC, and becoming involved in LGBTQ+ publications, to include OutWeek, the Blade, and the Lambda Book Review. In this interview, Marks discusses his beginnings in Washington, how he came to be involved with LGBTQ+ publications in the city, as well as the difficulties that LGBTQ+ businesses faced in the age of big-box retailers. Furthermore, Jim discusses the relationships that he forged along the way, and the impact that such relationships had on his life.
