Collected since the founding of the RHP, this collection is growing and is open to researchers. All interviews have been digitized and are described in the catalog; only some of them have transcripts available. None of the interviews stream online. Tom Chorlton, died January 5, 2014, at age 67, embodied a determined and well respected gay man. While living in D.C. from the mid-1970s to the early 1990s, Chorlton advocated for LGBT rights on a local and national level. He vocalizes his unwavering interest in political science. Chorlton received a bachelor’s in political science in 1968 from St. Louis University. Upon graduation, he served as a teacher in the Peace Corps in Kenya before returning to the U.S. He talks briefly about his journey in Kenya as well. His astounding activism and keen persistence as a spokesperson for the LGBT community serves as an example to all who wish to leave a print in any community.
